In a triumphant bulletin today, the Ministry of Truth unveiled the latest Newspeak vocabulary update, effective immediately across all Party media.
The obsolete and crimethink-inducing term “war” has been doubleplusungood and permanently expunged from the dictionary. Henceforth, all large-scale applications of violence against sovereign nations will be designated exclusively as “large-scale strikes” or, where appropriate, “law enforcement operations.”
Minitrue spokespersun Marco Rubio explained: “The old word ‘war’ implied unnecessary congressional approval, international law, or public debate—concepts incompatible with Ingsoc efficiency. ‘Large-scale strike,’ by contrast, evokes precision, justice, and the orderly arrest of indicted fugitives.”
When asked if extracting a foreign head of state by special forces constituted agression, the spokesman replied, “Big Brother does not aggress. Big Brother corrects.”
Party members are reminded that continued use of the prolefeed term “war” will be noted as thoughtcrime. Glory to the large-scale strike!
